How to become a better singer

Become a better singer
Discover the simple but powerful actions that you can take today to become the singer you want to become.

Have you been loving to sing your entire life, but feel that you need to do something more to actually develop your talent? Or do you want to sing and are not sure where to start? Or maybe you sing already but are not sure if what you are doing with your vocal cords is quite right. Then let me tell you, I am so happy you are here, and it is never late to become a better singer.  In fact, you can become a better singer today.

Here are some things you can do:

Perfect your technique:

Vocal technique is so important because it allows you to control your voice without hurting your vocal chords. Plan your time and budget to be able to invest in yourself as a singer. Do your research and find a vocal coach with whom you will feel comfortable. Be determined to develop your talent and apply what you are learning in your every-day practice. I recommend not to skip this step, even if you feel that you have a good voice. There are so many great things you can learn about your voice when you decide to perfect your technique.

Practice:

Now that you are learning some technique, practice, practice, practice! Add it to your calendar. Make time to keep singing and perfecting your voice. If it is not possible for you to practice every day, plan a schedule that will work for you. You could practice every other day for 30 minutes or an hour. Practicing consciously and constantly is key to keep moving forward on your journey as a singer.

Keep a notebook:

Write notes of the things that you are practicing and learning. This will help you to be accountable with yourself, to remember your lessons and take a look on your notes throughout the week when you are practicing by yourself, and to see how much progress you are making throughout the months and years. If you also desire, you can keep a journal to express your feelings about the work that you are doing as a singer. So you can look back one day to see how far you’ve come.

Record yourself:

You do not have to record every time you practice your singing skills. But it is a good habit to be able to listen to yourself and hear your voice as others would hear it. When you record yourself you will also be able to hear some mistakes that you probably did not realize at first. This is a great tool to be able to perfect your singing. As singers sometimes we get nervous to listen to our own voice, at least this happened to me. I used to get nervous to hear how I sounded and especially if I knew I messed up before hand. But this is completely normal. Just listen to yourself, celebrate your wins,  and work on the things that need improvement.

Mindset:

The way you think about yourself as a singer can affect your progress immensely. Mindset is key for singers. Keep telling to yourself “I can do this!” Because YOU CAN.

Many problems that you are facing right now can be fixed by having the right mindset. Prepare yourself mentally for every opportunity you will have to sing. Remember that you have a unique and beautiful voice. Do not give up!

That is all for now my singer friend. I am so glad I could share these steps with you. I can’t wait to see how far you will come in your journey as a singer!
